Carving for Kids, $15 5:30

Join Joe Hauger to make a wooden magic wand. We'll introduce the best and safest knife stroke techniques for children. Knives and safety gloves are provided by the instructor and are designed for use by children (that is, knives have a sharp cutting edge but a blunt tip.) We'll touch on topics including carving "with the grain" and the best grips and knife strokes for a beginner. Children must wear shoes (no sandals) and denim pants (no shorts.)  The better they are at carefully following instructions the better and safer time we'll all have. All materials are provided by the instructor, and children (or people of any age that are young at heart) will be able to take home a completed wooden magic wand. Children must be accompanied by a responsible guardian but the guardian does not have to pay if they don't carve.
